Review ROLAND Vintage Compurhythm Analog Drum Machine Compu Rhythm Working 100

The Roland CR-68 Comuprhythm and its successor, the CR-69, are iconic analog drum machines that have left an indelible mark on the world of music production. These drum machines, while sharing a similar design and functionality, have some distinct differences that set them apart.

The CR-68, with its vintage allure, offers a rich and warm analog sound that is reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. It features 12 individual drum sounds, including Kick, Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Hi Hat Open, Hi Hat Closed, Hand Clap, Agogo, Tambourine, Cowbell, and Cymbal. Each sound is meticulously crafted using Roland's legendary analog circuitry, delivering a depth and nuance that digital drums simply can't replicate.

The CR-68 boasts a comprehensive set of controls, allowing for intricate customization of each drum sound. It features 16 patterns, each with up to 64 steps, offering a wide range of rhythmic possibilities. The machine also includes a tempo range of 40 to 280 beats per minute, providing flexibility for various musical styles.

The CR-69, while similar in many ways, introduces some improvements over its predecessor. It features a slightly different sound palette, with a slightly more refined tone. The CR-69 also introduces a new feature: a MIDI interface, allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into modern digital workstations.

Both the CR-68 and CR-69 are renowned for their durability and reliability, making them ideal for both live performances and studio recording sessions. Their compact size and battery operation also make them highly portable, allowing musicians to take their drum sounds on the go.

In conclusion, the Roland CR-68 and CR-69 are essential tools for any musician or producer looking to add authentic, vintage drum sounds to their music. Their versatility, sound quality, and durability make them a timeless choice in the world of drum machines.

The Roland CR-68 and CR-69 are vintage analog drum machines known for their unique sound and character. Let's explore the pros and cons of buying either one, keeping in mind that the final decision should be based on your specific needs and preferences.

CR-68 Pros:

1. Unique sound: The CR-68 is renowned for its warm, analog sound. Its drum voices have a distinctive character that sets it apart from digital drum machines.

2. Handcrafted quality: As a vintage device, the CR-68 is built with high-quality components and craftsmanship, ensuring durability and reliability.

3. Versatility: The CR-68 offers a variety of drum voices, including kick, snare, tom, and cymbal, allowing you to create a wide range of drum patterns.

4. Affordability: Compared to some other vintage drum machines, the CR-68 can be an affordable option for those looking for an analog drum sound.

CR-68 Cons:

1. Lack of modern features: The CR-68 does not feature MIDI connectivity, making it less versatile in a modern production environment.

2. Limited editing options: The CR-68 offers fewer editing options than modern drum machines, making it more challenging to create complex drum patterns.

3. Maintenance and repair: As a vintage device, the CR-68 may require regular maintenance and repair, which can add to its cost over time.

CR-69 Pros:

1. Improved sound quality: The CR-69 features improved sound quality and more expressive drum voices compared to the CR-68.

2. MIDI connectivity: The CR-69 includes MIDI in and out, making it more compatible with modern equipment and easier to integrate into a modern production setup.

3. Expandability: The CR-69 can be expanded with additional cartridges, offering a broader range of drum voices and patterns.

CR-69 Cons:

1. Higher price: The CR-69 is typically more expensive than the CR-68 due to its improved sound quality and additional features.

2. Limited availability: The CR-69 is less common than the CR-68, making it more challenging to find in good condition.

Conclusion:

If you're looking for an affordable, vintage drum machine with a unique sound, the CR-68 could be an excellent choice. It offers a warm, analog sound and is more affordable than some other vintage drum machines. However, its lack of modern features and limited editing options may make it less suitable for certain applications.

On the other hand, the CR-69 is an improved version of the CR-68, offering better sound quality and more modern features such as MIDI connectivity. While it is more expensive, its improved capabilities make it a more versatile option for modern production. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on your budget, desired sound, and the specific requirements of your music production setup.
