Tin the 1978 catalog. That was a bit of a transition period for us between making drums in hamamatsu, taiwan, and Osaka sake. Tin the catalog, along with the original 7000 series drums.

Look at the pictures they can tell you more than me. I left it along because I was not sure and did not want to risk messing with it. Here's what I got from my product manager the sd 750md has the extended snares, but not the parallel action strainer.

Yamaha sd 750 md yd 7000 series 14 x 5 snare drum 70's 10 lugs hamamatsu, taiwan,i have had this drum for a long time and I recently found it cleaning out my storage place. The snare wires look like it is missing one strand it has 19 but it sounds fine. There are some inconsistencies prior to 1980, and the drums made in taiwan sometimes also don't fit the scheme laid out in the serial number sheet.

The snare strainer looks different from other drums like it has been bent but it works well this way and is out of the way when releasing the snares. Our serial number chart starts at 1980, an covers drums made in japan.
